Braided Apple Strudel!

Hello! Happy Sunday! Getting exited for a new week to come because the busy schedule is over and finally I will have more time to concentrate on the blog and create more ideas for recipes. So let’s start!

The next recipe is more the autumn one because it involves apples. Although we have this wonderful and healthy fruit all year round, in baking it’s used more exactly in this season because it’s the season for apples to ripen obviously. Anyways I decided to bake something using apples and my recently loved puff pastry. So welcome – braided apple strudel!


  • 450 g puff pastry
  • 2 apples
  • 4 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla sugar
  • 1 tsp starch
  • 1 egg

Peel apples and cut them into little pieces. Put them into pan, add sugar and cinnamon and stew for 15-20 min till apples are smooth and the sauce is  thick and viscous like for a caramel. Cool this mass.

Preheat the oven to 180 C.

Roll out the dough into square about 30×30 cm. Put it on baking sheet covered with parchment. Sprinkle a half of starch in the centre of rolled dough. Make medium size cuts on two opposite sides but not too long that you can make a braid. Then put apples in the centre and sprinkle again with starch. Do not add too much sauce! Make a braid. The end of the braid tuck underneath. Smear with an egg. Bake for 30 min.

Pour  left sauce from apples on the hot braid.

That’s it! The easy and tasty recipe and not so boring because of the form of strudel. It goes well for breakfast! Hope you’ll give it a go!
